Legend to watch: Thursday starter Foster Griffin (6-foot-3, 200 pounds, 19, bats rights, throws left, from Orlando, Fla.) came into this season rated by Baseball America as the No. 7 prospect in the Royals system. In five starts for the Legends, he is 0-1, 6.00 over 24 innings, with 19 strikeouts and six walks. A 2014 first-round draft pick (28th overall) out of Orlando’s The First Academy, he spent last summer with Burlington of the Appalachian League, going 0-2, 3.21 over 11 starts and 28 innings, with 19 strikeouts and 12 walks. Before signing for $1.925 million, he had committed to Ole Miss. As a high school senior, Griffin went 7-2, 1.55, with 99 strikeouts, while batting .403 with a homer and 18 RBI. He hoped his team to a National High School Invitational title.

GreenJacket to watch: OF Cristian Paulino (5-10, 170, age 23, bats and throws right, from Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic) is batting .321 with three homers, 16 RBI, 19 runs and 14 stolen bases over 32 games. Signed as a non-drafted free agent on Sept. 17, 2009, he played the 2010 season for the Dominican Summer League Giants, and the next three seasons for the Arizona League Giants. Last year, Paulino hit .240 with three homers, 31 RBI, 36 runs and 20 stolen bases over 92 games with Augusta. Over his last 10 games, Paulino is batting .316 with three homers, nine RBI, seven runs and six steals. Overall, he is batting .341 at home, .309 on the road; .441 against lefthanders and .267 versus righties.
